Job Description

South Sacramento Cancer Center (SSCC) a US Cancer Management Corp. center) actively seeks a full-time staff Medical Physicist. The selected candidate will join a team of a chief medical physicist, two dosimetrists, three physicians, and six therapists. SSCC is a stand-alone, above-ground private cancer care center in Sacramento, a beautiful city that is within two-hour driving to San Francisco, Napa Valley, and Lake Tahoe. SSCC provides state-of-the-art external beam radiation therapy services, including
SRS, SBRT, VMAT
(RapidArc™), IGRT, and 3DCRT. The center has two matched Varian TrueBeams (one capable of cone-based SRS), a GE CT Simulator, Eclipse TPS, Aria R&V, Radformation (RadMachine, AutoContour, ClearCheck, ClearCalc, and EZFluence), and MIM. Available physics QA devices and applications include Sun Nuclear Daily
QA3 & 3D
scanning system, IC Profiler, RadMachine for machine QA, and portal dosimetry for patient specific IMRT QA. Major Responsibilities Include but not limited to: Provide oversight for daily patient treatment, including IMRT, VMAT, and
SRS/SBRT
Provide checks and approvals for all planned photon and electron Calculate and approve clinical electron plans Perform weekly chart checks, end of treatment chart checks, and other routine physics tasks Provide supervision on SRS, SBRT, and other special procedures. Perform monthly and annual quality assurance in accordance with AAPM TG and MPPG reports, to include TG-51 calibration Work with engineers to assess and ensure linear accelerator performance in accordance with AAPM TG reports/Varian Beam Quality Guidelines Assist the chief physicist to comply with national standards, state requirements, and AAPM, APEx, or ACR recommendations. Provide consultation on CT simulation, treatment planning, patient setup and treatment. Assist the chief physicist to develop and maintain templates, checklists, and standardized operating policy and procedures Perform monthly QA on CT Simulator Assist the chief physicist to evaluate new technology and techniques Assist the chief physicist to perform acceptance and commissioning of new equipment and software. Provide education and training to staff on new technology and its implementation.
Education:
Master's degree required in Medical Physics, Physics, or a related discipline
Work Experience:
Three or more years of experience in Radiation Oncology Medical Physics preferred. Newly graduated CAMPEP approved residents are encouraged to apply.
License and Certifications:
American Board of Radiology (ABR) certification in Therapeutic Medical Physics, or board-eligible
