JOB DESCRIPTION
•This is for a two-year residency program•Conducts clinical medical physics training rotations designed to support radiology patient care and the quality assurance program within the institution. Attends seminars and participates in clinical research designed to further educate and enhance the clinical rotations. Learns the practice and responsibilities of a board certified medical physicist practicing in the subspecialties of diagnostic and nuclear medicine physics. Gains practical knowledge and skills in the modalities/areas of radiography, fluoroscopy, mammography, computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, nuclear medicine, radiology informatics, dosimetry and radiation safety, and ultrasound. Gains practical knowledge and skills regarding commissioning, calibration and assessment of radiologic equipment including dosimetry protocols, shielding design and protocol optimization. Gains practical knowledge and skills regarding scanner performance, production of image contrast, and their application to imaging of disease. Gains practical knowledge and skills regarding protocol construction, simulation, and diagnostic treatment techniques. Gains practical knowledge and skills regarding nuclear instrumentation, radiation monitors, dosimetry equipment (particularly ionization chambers, film, and thermoluminescent dosimeters), and automatic data acquisition systems. Gains practical knowledge and skills regarding quality assurance of radiologic equipment. Gains practical knowledge and skills regarding radioactive sources used for imaging and treatment in nuclear medicine. Gains practical knowledge and skills regarding informatics including data storage, retrieval, integrity, and service of picture archiving systems. Gains practical knowledge and skills regarding radiation safety applied to radiology procedures, occupational staff and general hospital environment. Performs related responsibilities as assigned.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A master's degree in Medical Physics.Additional Details:
