Job Description
40 hours per week - Exempt Day Shift The department of Radiation Oncology at the Merle M. Mahr Cancer Center, Baptist Health Deaconess is seeking a solo Medical Physicist as a vital member of our radiation oncology team, working closely with radiation oncologists, dosimetrists, therapists, and nurses to ensure the safe, accurate, and effective delivery of radiation therapy. As hospital Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) responsible for administering and enforcing the hospital's Radiation Protection Program (RPP) to ensure the safe use of ionizing radiation and radioactive materials. The RSO ensures compliance with Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), State regulations , OSHA standards , and ACHC accreditation requirements , protecting patients, staff, and the public from unnecessary radiation exposure.
Equipment:
One Varian TrueBeam Linear Accelerator and a Siemens SOMATOM go.Open Pro CT Scanner Software:
Eclipse Planning System, and ARIA Record and Verification and E Charting system Advanced treatment techniques: 3D-CRT, IMRT, VMAT, SBRT, SGRT and SRT. Additional responsibility as the hospital Radiation Safety Officer. Competent to independently provide clinical and professional services in therapeutic medical physics. Consults and collaborates with Radiation Oncologists and allied health personnel. Supports treatment planning and patient-specific radiation dosing. Ensures radiation safety for patients, staff, and the general public. Key Duties Develop, test, and commission radiation therapy, simulation, and treatment-planning equipment; ensure regulatory and accreditation compliance. Establish and maintain policies and procedures for clinical use of radiation and technical operations. Perform radiation measurements, acceptance testing, and equipment evaluations prior to clinical implementation. Review and evaluate patient dosimetry and collaborate with physicians and dosimetrist on treatment planning. Lead quality management and radiation safety programs, including shielding design and evaluation. Provide technical leadership for radiation oncology staff and support program development. Deliver consultation, training, and expertise in radiation dose, imaging applications, and informatics.Minimum Requirements:
