POSTDOCTORAL
ASSOCIATE, Plasma Science and Fusion Center, to join an MIT team in collaboration with the Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory to operate x-ray diagnostics on the WEST tokamak at
CEA/IRFM
in France. Activities would include participation in the design, assembly, testing, installation, calibration and operation of a high-resolution imaging crystal spectrometer for ion temperature, rotation velocity and electron temperature profiles, and medium energy resolution x-ray cameras for impurity and electron energy distribution studies on the WEST device. Responsibilities would involve close interaction with staff at IRFM, MIT and PPPL, including performing data analysis and interpretation for multiple transport-related topics, writing papers and making presentations at appropriate conferences. Job Requirements
REQUIRED
: PhD in physics, nuclear engineering or related fields; and general knowledge of fusion-grade plasma physics, including transport issues and basic atomic physics.
PREFERRED
: Hands-on experience of x-ray diagnostics; and familiarity with Dectris x-ray cameras. This is a one-year position with the possibility of renewal depending on satisfactory performance and continued funding. The position will be 100% off-campus at
