Job Description

Red Cedar Solutions is looking to fill a Junior Health Physicist position on a contract at Albuquerque, NM.
Some responsibilities include:
Provide radiological support services for DTRA's personnel dosimetry program including: Participating in meetings with the Air Force Dosimetry Center (AFDC) on issues pertaining to the issuance, shipment, distribution, use, return, processing, and recordkeeping associated with use of the optically stimulated luminescence dosimetry (OSLs). Supporting field activities use of OSLs and all administrative aspects of managing the DTRA Dosimetry program. Coordinating the distribution, return, and calibration of electronic personal dosimeters (EPDs) to field activities. Assisting in the distribution, posting, and return of neutron area monitoring devices. Under the guidance of ESOH government health physics staff, apply principles, practices, and techniques of health physics including: Assist in development and implementation of radiation safety program policies. Assist in performance of radiation and contamination surveys. Assist in conducting radiation safety training to employees. Assist in maintenance and review of program records including leak test, source inventories, training, radiation instrument calibration, and radioactive material shipping and transportation records. Participate in investigation of radiological incidents and development of corrective actions. Supporting the conduct of radiation safety and compliance audits. Collaborating with other health and safety professionals to promote a safe working environment and participate in ESOH marketing initiatives/campaigns. This task is to be completed by 1 FTE located at Ft. Belvoir VA., or Kirkland
AFB, N.M.
Requirements The Junior Health Physicist must possess a degree in natural science or engineering that includes at least 30 semester hours in health physics, engineering, radiological science, chemistry, physics, biology, mathematics, and/or calculus, or a combination of education and experience that includes the courses as shown above, including an understanding of sciences applicable to health physics comparable to that described above. Or the applicant must possess certification as a health physicist by the American Board of Health Physics or certification as a Radiation Protection Technologists by the National Registry of Radiation Protection Technologists (NRRPT). The Junior Health Physicist will have between one to four years of experience in health physics and radiation safety. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to use MS Office or equivalent software.
