R&D Tax Manager Location:

Position Summary We are seeking an experienced R&D Tax Manager to support our sales team and lead the qualification and documentation process for R&D tax credit opportunities. This role will work directly with prospective and current clients to evaluate activities under the IRS Four-Part Test, confirm U.S.-based qualifying work, and guide clients through the R&D credit study process. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience conducting R&D eligibility assessments and supporting audits with the IRS or state agencies.

Key Responsibilities:

Partner with the sales team on discovery calls and lead evaluation of R&D qualification for prospects. Conduct technical interviews with engineering, software, scientific, or manufacturing personnel to identify qualifying R&D activities. Prepare and review project narratives, cost analyses, and supporting documentation. Ensure compliance with IRS Section 41 requirements and maintain high-quality workpapers. Support and/or lead audit defense for R&D credit claims when needed. Manage multiple client projects and timelines in a remote environment.

What We're Looking For:

2-4 years of experience in R&D tax credit consulting, public accounting tax practice, or R&D-focused specialty advisory. Strong understanding of the IRS Four-Part Test and qualification standards across industries. Experience interfacing directly with clients, including technical and non-technical stakeholders. Ability to clearly explain R&D credit concepts to clients and internal teams. Organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing several engagements simultaneously.

Preferred Qualifications:

CPA, EA, JD, or prior experience in audit defense is a plus. Experience with Georgia state tax incentives, including the Georgia Jobs Tax Credit program, is a plus.

Salary:

70,000-$100,000 (based on previous experience)
