Job Description

Introduction The Maryland Military Department (MMD) is looking for a candidate to\r\nfill the position of Compliance Officer. This position will work on a�compressed\r\nwork�schedule�from 6:30 am to 5 pm, Tuesday through Friday and\r\nwill have free parking available on site.\r\n GRADE 19\r\n\r\n
LOCATION OF POSITION
Fifth Regiment Armory\r\n\r\n219 29th Division Street�\r\nBaltimore, Maryland 21201\r\n Main Purpose of Job The Compliance Officer serves as the principal authority for the Agency Internal Controls\r\nReview (ICR) program. This position is responsible for the systematic evaluation of\r\nagency operations to ensure efficiency and adherence to state and federal regulations.\r\nThe incumbent will develop and revise agency policies, leverage technology to improve\r\nworkflows, and conduct complex investigations into allegations of employee misconduct.\r\nAdditionally, the position will oversee agency-wide MOSH safety compliance and provide strategic recommendations to the Appointing Authority on the eradication of waste, fraud,\r\nand mismanagement.\r\n
POSITION DUTIES
Position duties include but are not\r\nlimited it:\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n�� Develop and recommend new standards,\r\nmethods of operation, and technology to accomplish the agency mission.�\r\n�� Conduct investigations on employee\r\nmisconduct, waste, fraud, and abuse.�\r\n�� Conduct safety inspections of agency\r\noperations and field activities for compliance with Maryland Occupational\r\nSafety and Health (MOSH) and submit written reports to senior management.\r\n\r\n
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Graduation from an accredited\r\nhigh school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
Experience:
Six (6) years of administrative\r\nstaff or professional work experience.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
Notes:
\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n1.\r\nCandidates may substitute 30 credit hours\r\nfrom an accredited college or university for each year of the required\r\nexperience, for up to four (4) years.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n2.\r\nCandidates may substitute a bachelor's degree\r\nplus two (2) years of administrative or professional experience for the required\r\nexperience�\r\n���\r\n3.\r\nCandidates\r\nmay substitute a master's degree for five (5) years of the required experience.�\r\n\r\n\r\n4. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces experience\r\ninvolving staff work (administration, policy, or unit operations) for the\r\nrequired experience on a year-for-year basis.\r\n
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
�1 year of experience conducting investigations on employee\r\nmisconduct.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n��1 year of experience conducting investigations of waste, fraud, and abuse.�\r\n\r\n\r\n��1 year of experience conducting safety inspections in compliance\r\nwith MOSH (Maryland Occupational Safety and Health).�\r\n\r\n\r\n��Experience\r\nserving as a primary or principal authority for an Internal Controls Review\r\n(ICR) program\r\n
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which\r\nrequire the operation of a motor vehicle.� Employees assigned such duties\r\nwill be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the\r\nState of Maryland with less than 5 points to operate a state vehicle.\r\n\r\n
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Employees must be able to successfully complete a State and Federal\r\nbackground check.\r\n\r\n
