Serves as lead author Other duties as assigned Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Knowledge of engineering principles, system design, and applied technologies across relevant domains Knowledge of safety standards, compliance requirements, and quality assurance protocols in technical environments Knowledge of publishing and reporting requirements Skill in project management including the supervision of others Ability to manage and cultivate relationships with sponsors and stakeholders Ability to independently contribute to professional conferences, societies, committees, or review groups Minimum Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in related field 15 years of relevant experience Equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered Job Level Overview Management and People Leadership Level 3 - Heads a department, multiple smaller functions with a department, or a specialized function with institution-wide span. Integrates strategic thinking to drive cross functional initiatives to optimize efficiency, performance, and innovation. Essential Duties Oversees development, management, and operations of research capabilities (laboratories, facilities, staff) and financial performance of assigned units Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Strong domain knowledge (theory and applications) of Sustainability, Manufacturing, Materials Science, or Energy Systems. Ability to manage and cultivate relationships with university, industrial, and government sponsors, partners, and stakeholders Demonstrated ability to lead development of large competitive proposals and execution of applied research projects in sustainability, manufacturing, materials science, or energy systems.
