Min Hourly Rate $15.05 (Standard); $14.05 (Non-Urban); $16.30 (Portland Metro) Max Hourly Rate $21.50 (Standard); $19.50 (Non-Urban); $22.00 (Portland Metro) Position Summary This recruitment will be used fill up to five part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) Student technical positions for the OSU -North Willamette Research Center at Oregon State University ( OSU ). Positions are located at the North Willamette Research and Extension Center ( NWREC ), Oregon State University in Aurora, Oregon. The Orchard Crops Research program is recruiting students who will assist the program with a variety of tasks. In this position, students learn and build vital career-readiness skills in the primary areas below: Communication, Critical Thinking, Teamwork, Professionalism Position Duties 100% of duties will consist of mowing, pruning, planting, hoeing or weed pulling, checking insect traps, conducting insect sampling, analyzing samples under the microscope for mites and insect damage, and collecting and recording data. A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services ( OIS ), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center. Additional Required Qualifications Perform assigned tasks without close supervision Capable of working outside and standing/walking for extended periods of time. Ability to lift 25 lbs Students who are under 18 years old are required to have passed a tractor safety certification class prior to operating a tractor. Attention to detail Maintain a positive and collegial attitude. Preferred (Special) Qualifications Experience with tractors (for students over 18) Working Conditions / Work Schedule Work schedule during school varies depending on school schedule and NWREC operating hours. Work during breaks and harvest season typically begins at 7am most days, with 6 am start on our busiest harvest days, and will generally be done by 3:30. Occasionally we ask that students stay longer to finish a task, but work will not exceed 40 hours/week during the summer and 20 hours/week while school is in session.
