Job Description

Wesleyan University, founded in 1831, is a diverse, energetic liberal arts community where critical thinking and practical idealism go hand in hand. Position Details Applications are invited for a 1-year postdoctoral research fellowship in the Department of Psychology at Wesleyan University. The position may be renewable for a second year based on performance and funding. We seek an outstanding researcher with a Ph.D. in psychology or a related field, interested in collaborating on clinical cognitive science research. The postdoctoral fellow will work with Dr. Kyungmi Kim and Dr. Matthew Kurtz on research projects that investigate memory or self-related processes in healthy people and people with psychosis and remediation of these deficits in patient populations. Our research laboratories are equipped with computers for conducting behavioral experimental research, with additional access to EEG equipment for candidates with a background in electrophysiological methods. We collaborate with a network of local mental health centers for recruitment of patient populations. The fellow will be involved in all aspects of research including study development, data collection and analysis, and dissemination of research findings. They will develop and teach an undergraduate seminar one semester each year in their area of expertise. They will also have the opportunity to mentor exceptional undergraduates involved in research. This fellowship is designed to prepare the fellow to compete successfully for a tenure-track position in cognitive, cognitive/clinical neuroscience and/or clinical psychology and includes training and supervision to develop an independent research program and to mentor and teach undergraduates. Minimum Qualifications Ph.D. in psychology or a related field Preferred Qualifications Competitive candidates will have a demonstrated ability to complete projects as evidenced by first-author publications, experience in behavioral experimental research, and proficiency with programming and statistical analysis software (e.g., Matlab, PsychoPy, E-prime, R, SPSS). Previous experience with clinical populations will be viewed favorably.
