Job Description

20 May 2026 Job Information Organisation/Company CNRS Department Institut de Chimie Physique Research Field Chemistry Physics » Chemical physics Physics » Biophysics Researcher Profile First Stage Researcher (R1) Application Deadline 9 Jun 2026 - 23:59 (UTC) Country France Type of Contract Temporary Job Status Full-time Hours Per Week 35 Offer Starting Date 1 Sep 2026 Is the job funded through the EU Research Framework Programme? Horizon Europe - MSCA Is the Job related to staff position within a Research Infrastructure? No Offer Description In the medical field, nanoparticles can be considered as very important added-values for gene or drug delivery, imaging, and radiotherapeutic treatments. For radiotherapy, the approach to decrease side effects in normal cells is to deposit higher energy in the tumor by inclusion of metallic nanoparticles. Despite the intense literature of cell-death induced by irradiated nanoparticle, clinical applications is still not effective. The main reason for that is the absence of consensus on the mechanism responsible for deleterious species at the vicinity of the nanoparticles. Therefore, this project aims at identifying and quantifying the species produced during irradiation in the presence of nanoparticles. This project aims at identifying and quantifying the species produced during irradiation in the presence of nanoparticles. For that, the student will develop new sensitive quantification methods to analyze species such as
O2-, 1O2.
Then determination of radical yields produced during irradiation along the track in high-LET ion beam with sub-millimeter resolution will be performed. The results obtained should help us to describe radiosensitization mechanisms of metallic NPs at the molecular level and will be compared with theoretical and computational modeling results through close collaboration with other partners within the
MS-RADAM
network. The different tasks of the project are:
  • Nanoparticles synthesis, functionalization and characterization
  • Elaboration of protocols for sensitive quantification of radicals and molecular species produced by radiolysis in the presence of nanoparticles (O2-, 1O2….)
  • Quantify chemicals species emitted for different beam types (photons, electrons, ions) and setting (along the Bragg peak)
  • Quantification of the impact of Cerenkov light Where to apply Website https://emploi.
