  • 23:59 (UTC) Country France Type of Contract Temporary Job Status Full-time Hours Per Week 35 Offer Starting Date 1 Nov 2026 Is the job funded through the EU Research Framework Programme?
Not funded by a EU programme Is the Job related to staff position within a Research Infrastructure? No Offer Description The research group lead by Leonardo Mazza is currently working on several aspects of the theory of many-body quantum systems, on projects strictly related to the dynamics of quantum simulators in closed and open settings. Specifically, the research group is working on the problem of thermalization and many-body quantum scars; on the weak breaking of integrability in one-dimensional quantum spin chains; on the late-time dynamics of open quantum systems and on the existence of slow modes associated to strong quantum symmetries; on the dynamics of quantum particles in two-dimensional opetical lattices pierced by a synthetic magnetic field. The selected candidate is expected to actively participate to this research and to play a leading role in the research group, working on her/his project but also on helping younger scientists. The selected candidate will be responsible of several research projects to be carried out under the direct supervision of Leonardo Mazza. Specifically, she/he
  • will personally develop a research line with numerical simulations studying the problem of integrability breaking in quantum matter; (main task)
  • will work in collaboration with one PhD student and to help her/his development of abilities in the numerical simulation of quantum matter, including many-body open quantum systems or the fractional quantum Hall effect; (secondary task)
  • will participate to scientific meetings, conferences and visit research labs in order to disseminate the results.
(secondary task) The work will be carried out at Laboratoire de Physique Théorique et Modèles Statistiques in Orsay, in the Batiment "Pascal" 530 of the campus of Université Paris-Saclay. The selected candidate will be given a shared office with a desktop computer and will be offered all material means necessary for her/his activity. The candidate will be asked to work in strict coordination with the research group of Leonardo Mazza and more generally with the Equipe working on Quantum Matter at LPTMS, will be asked to help in the supervision of PhD and master students, as well as to participate to all scientific activities of the laboratory.
