Job Description

Quantified Design Solutions, LLC is looking for a highly motivated Research Assistant (RA) to support the training system software development process. The RA will support at all phases of the training system design from data collection and requirements definition to testing and software verification. In the initial stages of development, the RA will work with clients to define their training needs and processes that will be trained. Those training needs will be translated into requirements that the software development team uses to develop computer-based, virtual, and augmented reality training solutions for. During the development process the RA will serve as a link between experts and the development team to clarify questions regarding requirements and training needs. Finally, the RA will support testing against defined requirements to ensure initially defined training needs are met. Quantified Design is an advanced technology Research and Development subsidiary for Newton Design, a world leader in aircraft cabin simulators and military training platforms. Quantified Design develops computer-based, game based, and extended reality training systems to compliment the platforms developed by Newton Design and expands the training portfolio to defense and medical training applications. Quantified Design's team has over 20 years of experience conducting research to optimize training systems and applies that experience to optimize training for learners, instructors, and maintainers. The Quantified Design team have continuously innovated in the development of virtual/augmented reality training and develops integrated training suites across a wide array of domains, ranging from military and medical training to aircraft cabin crew and maintenance training. What You Will Be Doing Defining best practices for virtual reality, augmented reality, and computer based training based on learning science research. Documenting training needs and system requirements based on documented procedures and interviews with subject matter experts. Developing test plans to evaluate software requirements based on system requirements and validation of system software following those test plans. Testing software following test cases, and documenting the results to drive software improvements. Conducting research to determine and document the operational state of systems that our training platforms are designed to train in order to drive the documentation of derived system requirements. For example, for training platforms that guide the startup of equipment, outlining components fo the system that change state based on the inputs provided at each step of the startup process. Supporting the development of proposals through research and the addition of content. Position Requirements Experience developing requirements. Experience planning and developing software test plans from requirements is required. In order to be successful at this position, candidates should have: A passion for creating immersive training Experience researching VR/AR training best practices 1-5 years experience developing system requirements 1-5 years experience supporting software QA process through testing A critical eye for detail to determine a wide range of test cases Ability to translate requirements into test cases Ability to provide detailed documentations of test results An ability to learn new processes to an expert level Ability to effectively organize, plan, prioritize, and execute projects Ability to collaborate with a distributed team Comfortable working within an Agile software design and development environment. Comfortable working within Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality systems.

An understanding of software usability in order to support a usability review during testing.

Previous experience researching training system best practices. This position is full time salaried position. The team member will support a key role in the development and expansion of our core Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality training system product line. Specifically, this position will support the expansion of our Uptime Virtual Maintenance training suite, Cabin Crew Virtual Readiness training suite, and XR-Med Augmented Reality medical triaining suite. Please be prepared to provide past performance on projects that best represent your capabilities and interests.
