Job Description
Department Institute of Molecular Biophysics (IMB) Responsibilities We are looking for a part-time research assistant to help with FSU-wide scientific and technical asset compilation, revision, and update. It will involve visits to several departmental core facilities for gathering and checking equipment details against existing data and updating and correcting equipment information in consultation with departmental core facility personnel. The job will require downloading and uploading asset data from and to FSU computer systems. The job will include the following tasks: Gathering and revising long and short descriptions of scientific equipment Documenting current status of equipment/instrument Photographing equipment and accessories along with FSU property tag Documenting manufacturer and instrument information Collecting protocols, operating procedures, and manuals of equipment Updating information about existing equipment in the database Categorizing equipment group and subgroup, and Other related tasks as assigned by the supervisor Qualifications High School Diploma/Equivalent The person should have some knowledge of scientific and technical equipment and their use. Attention to details such as model and configuration of equipment are essential. The person should have strong interpersonal and communication skills and should be able to work with many core facility personnel. The person should be able to look at examples, follow directions, and work independently. Preferred Qualifications A person with a science/engineering background is preferred. Due to the nature of the project, a commitment to work, at least nine months, will be preferred. A person who can document details and some knowledge of database and web sites will be a plus.
