Location Statesboro Campus - Statesboro, GA Department Information School of Earth, Environment, and Sustainability Job Summary The Student Assistant will support the School of Earth, Environment, and Sustainability as a Research Assistant on the Statesboro Campus beginning Summer 2026. The Research Assistantship will assist Dr. Rosko in a variety of non-administrative, public-engaged research related tasks as outlined below. This assistantship targets understanding the vulnerability context of Statesboro and high growth areas in Bulloch County, GA. The goal is to help advance a baseline knowledge of the socio-environmental context of vulnerability in effort to assist with the broader vulnerability assessment this assistantship contributes to. Student employees cannot work more than 1300 hours in a 12-consecutive month period. Responsibilities Provides institutional mapping and understanding of stakeholders in the study site Meets with relevant stakeholders for networking and knowledge sharing Conducts policy & planning review and reporting Attends community and project related meetings and events Produces annotated bibliography on Community Resilience, Transformative Resilience, and Regional Economic Resilience Participates in qualitative coding Shift Specifics Up to 30 hours per week Flexible with schedule of availability Required Qualifications Educational Requirements Must be enrolled in six or more undergraduate credit hours or three or more graduate credit hours at Georgia Southern University. Preferred Qualifications Preferred Education In pursuit of a M.S. degree in Geography or a closely related field Preferred Experience Self-motivation and a high degree of responsibility to complete tasks in a timely manner and make significant progress without direct supervision Ability to learn new software and skills as needed Research experience within a university setting Proposed Salary $18.00 per hour This is a non-exempt position paid on a biweekly basis.
