(IN-PNFB-IUINA) Department Information The Herman B Wells Center for Pediatric Research conducts basic science and translational research within the Department of Pediatrics at Indiana University School of Medicine. The Wells Center houses more than 300 faculty investigators, staff, and trainees seeking answers to the most pressing questions related to childhood illness. With the collaboration between scientists and physicians, the center aims to increase knowledge of causes and mechanisms of serious pediatric diseases. Our goal is to develop innovative approaches to the diagnosis and treatment of sick children in Indiana and beyond. Job Summary The Department of Pediatrics Nephrology Basic Research is seeking a Part-Time Research Technician to join Dr. Schwaderer's lab. Department Specific Responsibilities Provides technical and coordination skills in carrying out animal research projects and perform technical laboratory duties. Works with animals (mice). Manages and maintains the lab's mouse colony through breeding, ear-tagging, genotyping, weaning, and euthanizing animals. Maintains human biobank samples. Performs daily animal care and health checks and kidney disease animal models. Maintains appropriate storage and records of mouse models, as well as organize Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) records of mice. Learns immunofluorescence, PCR, ELISA, and other key lab functions is essential. Maintains accurate and detailed records of protocols and experimental data, including mouse records. Performs laboratory maintenance tasks including equipment maintenance, lab stocks, chemical inventory and safety records, and general lab support as needed. Qualifications Combinations of related education and experience may be considered. Education beyond the minimum required may be substituted for work experience. Required Bachelor's degree in science or related field.WORK EXPERIENCE

Working Conditions / Demands The role regularly requires the ability to effectively communicate. The role frequently requires the ability to move about the work environment and to position oneself to operate laboratory equipment effectively. The role requires the ability to move objects weighing up to 25 pounds and will occasionally work near moving mechanical parts. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation. Additional Information This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
