Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Research and Development Technician to work on 1st shift from Mondays to Fridays for a 6-month contract role
JOB DESCRIPTION
The R&D Assembly Technician is a hands-on, contract role supporting the development and assembly of medical devices. This position will support the execution of early-stage R&D manufacturing builds, working with both manual and semi-automated equipment to assemble intricate, small-scale components. The ideal candidate brings a technical mindset, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn and contribute in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Responsibilities:
Perform manual and semi-automated assembly of small, intricate components for early-stage R&D builds Operate and maintain basic manufacturing and inspection equipment in a cleanroom or lab environment Follow detailed work instructions, assembly drawings, and process documentation Record observations, process data, and build outcomes to support engineering analysis Collaborate with engineers to share feedback, suggest improvements, and support process refinement Assist in setup and troubleshooting of assembly fixtures and semi-automated tools Support documentation of learnings, deviations, and process updates as needed
Key Decision Rights:
Provide input on assembly process improvements and tooling usability Communicate observations and potential issues during builds to the engineering team
Required Skills and Competencies:
Comfortable working with small parts under a microscope or magnification Basic understanding of mechanical assembly and manufacturing processes Ability to follow detailed instructions and maintain focus on repetitive tasks Strong communication skills and willingness to ask questions and learn Familiarity with basic computer tools for data entry and documentation Experience working in a regulated manufacturing or R&D environment preferred
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or equivalent required Minimum 3 years of experience in a manufacturing, R&D, or assembly tech/operator role Experience in medical device or cleanroom environments is a plus
Additional Information:
Role is based in Acton, MA and requires on-site presence 5 days per week. Cleanroom gowning and adherence to GMP/ISO standards may be required Expected shift hours are 8am - 5pm
Pay:
$28.00 - $30.00 per hour
