Job Description

Job Description:
The School of Engineering and Computational Sciences at Merrimack College invites applications for a graduate research-based fellowship in Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science for Fall 2026 . This fellowship is centered on graduate research work under the supervision of Professor Avik Mahata . Selected fellows will work directly on faculty-led research projects in the Computational Materials Design Group. Fellowship positions are highly selective and will be awarded based on demonstrated interest, background, and alignment with ongoing research projects.
Research Areas:
Computer Science:
AI for Materials Science and Scientific Reasoning, including machine learning, data-driven discovery, and large language models for scientific applications.
Mechanical Engineering:
AI and Computational Materials Science, including simulation, modeling, and computational design of advanced materials systems.
Fellowship Details:
Graduate fellowship based on active research participation Fellows will work directly on Professor Mahata's research projects Approximately 20 hours per week dedicated to research Expected research outputs: publications, reports, software, or models Tuition remission (full or partial) will be available , depending on qualifications and program structure
