Job Description

FBB Capital Partners provides customized wealth management solutions for financially established individuals and institutions in Bethesda, MD, Easton, MD, The Washington, DC, metropolitan area, The Eastern Shore of Maryland, and nationwide. Understanding how to prioritize client goals and objectives allows us to provide personalized attention and customization on behalf of each of our clients. The Research Associate will help FBB's investment team execute its research and portfolio management process. The Research Associate will generate data, analysis, and insights and periodically contribute to group meetings with senior members of FBB's Investment Committee. The role will include undertaking financial research and reporting on existing and potential investments. The successful candidate will be able to initiate new proposals and provide maintenance research on existing holdings across some or all of the following asset classes: equities, fixed income, ETFs and mutual funds (third-party investment manager research), commodities, and private markets. The associate will gain experience in the fundamentals of financial modeling, capital markets and manager research. The Research Associate can expect to focus on the following areas: Assist with weekly meeting prep, quarterly rebalancing charts, monthly attribution, and other ad-hoc financial analysis projects Work with other research team members to create and / or update investment summary reports on equity holdings Create similar summary reports for various asset classes and strategies Evaluate the performance of and process behind historical investments with risk management in mind Create and update annual reports for equity strategies Use artificial intelligence (AI) tools to streamline all relevant tasks Work towards unassisted equity research responsibilities including evaluating macroeconomic data, analyzing financial statements, and utilizing press releases, earnings conference calls, company presentations, and financial filings (10Qs, 10Ks, etc.) to evaluate corporate strategy Work with senior research analysts to create financial statement pro-formas, construct valuation models, and assist in making informed recommendations
Qualifications:
The Research Associate position typically requires the following qualifications: Proven full-time or internship experience in financial analysis, with a preference for investment research and analysis (0 - 3 years preferred) Solid understanding of financial modeling, statistics, and economics Strong use of Excel, and other financial analysis software. Experience with Claude or ChatGPT is preferred Excellent quantitative and qualitative analytical skills Familiarity with and experience in the use of risk models and portfolio management techniques Experience working in a team environment where they have developed and honed problem solving and communication skills Strong, relevant academic credentials (BA/BS) in quantitative analysis (economics, accounting, finance, math, engineering, etc.) or qualitative analysis (psychology, journalism, or related field) Progress toward the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation highly preferred Interest and/or experience in a particular industry (technology, energy, utilities, etc.) also a plus Participation in college-level investment clubs or organizations is a plus
