Main Campus General Summary Provide support to the Department of Mathematics & Statistics. Principal Duties and Responsibilities Responsible for tutoring in the Math Tutoring Lab, assisting students in developing effective learning strategies, teaching introductory undergraduate mathematics courses, and other activities supporting student learning and student retention in the Department of Mathematics & Statistics.
Minimum Qualifications:
A Bachelor's Degree. GPA of 3.0 or higher. Admission to the M.S. Mathematics Program or the M.S. Applied Statistics Program. Maintenance of a 67% course completion. Enrollment in at least 6 graduate credits in the Department of Mathematics & Statistics during the fall and winter semesters. Ability to work 10 hours per week (50% graduate assistantship) or 20 hours per week (100% graduate assistantship) is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Strong content knowledge in undergraduate mathematics (e.g., algebra, trigonometry, and/or introductory statistics). Ability to build rapport with students and create a supportive, inclusive learning environment. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and contribute to a positive tutoring center culture. Experience tutoring, teaching, or supporting students in an academic setting. Awareness of challenges such as math anxiety and willingness to support students' confidence and persistence.
