Job Summary The Research Technician III - Polymer executes engineering activities for next generation polymer matrix composite materials and process development within sponsored research and development programs. This role participates in and leads various polymer engineering activities for prepreg, film, matrix reactor, autoclave, sample preparation, testing, maintenance and equipment operation. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Adheres to all University and School policies, procedures, and regulations Supports a team of scientists and engineers to develop next generation materials Optimizes advanced pilot-scale composite materials development equipment Plans and executes composite materials and process engineering functions Conducts composite material analytical and mechanical testing Generates technical reports and performs other duties as assigned by manager Performs other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Polymer Science, Engineering, or related field. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Knowledge of aryl-ether ketone chemistry and monomer synthesis Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public Ability to apply mathematical concepts particularly related to engineering and scientific calculations Preferred Qualifications Three (3) to five (5) years of experience running composite prepreg, resin transfer molding (RTM), thermoforming and/or matrix prepolymer continuous reactor.
