Position Summary:
• This academic administrative appointment is for current UNMC faculty. The Assistant Dean for Research will play a crucial role in advancing the research agenda of the
UNMC CON.
The Assistant Dean for Research will work closely with the Associate Dean for Research and other key stakeholders to develop and implement strategies that promote and support research excellence across the institution. This role will support faculty research across all five campuses and requires strong leadership skills, effective communication skills, the ability to build teams, a deep understanding of academic research, and the ability to cultivate relationships with internal and external partners.
Required Qualifications:
A doctoral degree (PhD) in nursing or relevant field. Hold the rank of Associate Professor or full Professor with UNMC. Significant experience in grant writing and research administration, including grant management and compliance. Experience securing external funding for research projects. NIH or other federal funding is preferred. Current NIH or other federal funding as PI at time of application. Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Knowledge of research funding landscape and trends. Familiarity with relevant regulations and best practices in research ethics and compliance.
Supplemental Qualifications:
Post doctoral training. Experience working in a higher education or research-intensive institution (prior PhD student mentorship preferred). Consistent record of scholarly achievement and research productivity. Demonstrated capacity to think creatively about key research opportunities, emerging trends, and challenges. Familiarity with research impact metrics and assessment tools.
