Posting Summary Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Computational Research Assistant (Seasonal) for the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering within the School of Engineering. Among the key duties of the position are the following: Leverages advanced AI/ML to build predictive models for the environmental impacts of hydroclimate extremes, such as severe storms, droughts, and heatwaves. Manages Big Data analytics involving remote sensing and climate/hydrologic model outputs to develop new predictive workflows. Maintains the codebase on GitHub and present progress at weekly group meetings.

Position Status:

Part Time Working Hours 20 - 40 hours per week Work Arrangement Consistent with the current application of Rutgers Policy 60.3.22 or the applicable provisions of relevant collective negotiations agreements, this position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement. Temporary Staff Appointment - Hourly Minimum Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in Science, Math, Engineering, or a related scientific/technical discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and/or relevant research study experience carrying out research protocols and tests, or other technical work may be substituted for the degree. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong background in AI/ML. Proficiency in Python and data analysis. Excellent communication skills. Preferred Qualifications Previous work experience in the field.
