The PETS Postdoctoral Associate position will work with an established Principal Investigator with a track-record of publications and supportive mentorship. The PI and applicant will work together to achieve research and career goals in a supportive environment. The position provides opportunities to work on various quantitative research and academic projects focused on substance use and mental health treatment need, use, and related outcomes across the life course. Projects include examining multi-level drivers of health and other exposures of interest, particularly exposure to policies and the criminal legal system and disparities therein. The postdoctoral research scientist will have the opportunity to explore additional research questions. The Postdoctoral Associate will analyze and interpret data on substance use and mental health outcomes, treatment need and utilization, as well as social and structural drivers of health, from a variety of administrative and population data sources. They will contribute to the development of peer-reviewed manuscripts, scientific presentations, and grants. They will work collaboratively in teams and engage in other activities as needed. There will also be opportunities to purse independent research and career development (e.g., grant writing training) in health services, criminal legal system, population health, and/or related fields. • The candidate must have a doctoral degree in epidemiology, social and behavioral health sciences, or a related field hence a degree in a specific field of study
• Proficiency in R or Stata and experience working with quantitative data analysis are essential.
• Record of peer-reviewed publications Certifications/Licenses Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Comprehensive understanding of statistical concepts and methods. Proficiency in at least one programing language (e.g., R, STATA).
• Excellent quantitative analytical skills, particularly in longitudinal modeling, administrative data analyses, and causal inference methods.

Understanding of HIPAA regulations and/or Human Subjects regulations for human subjects' research. Excellent communication skill (both oral and writing) Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams in a thoughtful, ethical, equitable manner Preferred Qualifications

• Strong interest in health equity, substance use or psychiatric epidemiology
• Experience conducting research on substance use, mass incarceration and public health is preferred
• Interest in substance use and mental health treatment need and uptake across the life course, and structural drivers of health is preferred.

Equipment Utilized Physical Demands and Work Environment Overview Center for Pharmacoepidemiology and Treatment Science The Center for Pharmacoepidemiology and Treatment Science ( PETS) is a Chancellor-level center based at the Rutgers Institute for Health, Health Care Policy and Aging Research ( IFH) and reports dually to both the RBHS Chancellor and to the IFH Director. PETS was formed in 2017 to create an interdisciplinary locus for world-class research and training in pharmacoepidemiology and related disciplines at Rutgers. Over the past 6 years, PETS has developed into a major pharmacoepidemiology group, recruiting numerous new core, part-time, and adjunct faculty, and an experienced team of highly trained administrative and analytic staff. The 10 current PETS core faculty have their tenure or tenure-track in Medicine, Pharmacy, or Public Health and have been funded by numerous R01s, K awards, and foundation awards. PETS core faculty work on a variety of topics in pharmacoepidemiology and related fields, including traditional drug safety studies, comparative effectiveness research, pharmacoepidemiologic methods, clinical epidemiology, and health services research. They regularly collaborate with researchers across campus, across the US, and internationally, including colleagues from academia, industry, and government.
