Employee discount programs Posting Summary Rutgers, the State University of Jersey, is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate for the Center for Pharmacoepidemiology and Treatment Science ( PETS) within the Institute for Health, Health Care Policy and Aging Research ( IFH). The PETS Postdoctoral Associate position will work with an established Principal Investigator with a track-record of publications and supportive mentorship. The PI and applicant will work together to achieve research and career goals in a supportive environment. The position provides opportunities to work on various quantitative research and academic projects focused on substance use and mental health treatment need, use, and related outcomes across the life course. Projects include examining multi-level drivers of health and other exposures of interest, particularly exposure to policies and the criminal legal system and disparities therein. The postdoctoral research scientist will have the opportunity to explore additional research questions.
The Postdoctoral Associate will analyze and interpret data on substance use and mental health outcomes, treatment need and utilization, as well as social and structural drivers of health, from a variety of administrative and population data sources. They will contribute to the development of peer-reviewed manuscripts, scientific presentations, and grants. They will work collaboratively in teams and engage in other activities as needed. There will also be opportunities to purse independent research and career development (e.g., grant writing training) in health services, criminal legal system, population health, and/or related fields. Qualifications Minimum Education and Experience
- The candidate must have a doctoral degree in epidemiology, social and behavioral health sciences, or a related field hence a degree in a specific field of study
- Proficiency in R or Stata and experience working with quantitative data analysis are essential.
- Record of peer-reviewed publications Certifications/Licenses Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Comprehensive understanding of statistical concepts and methods. Proficiency in at least one programing language (e.g., R, STATA).
- Excellent quantitative analytical skills, particularly in longitudinal modeling, administrative data analyses, and causal inference methods.
- Strong interest in health equity, substance use or psychiatric epidemiology
- Experience conducting research on substance use, mass incarceration and public health is preferred
- Interest in substance use and mental health treatment need and uptake across the life course, and structural drivers of health is preferred.
