Staff Position Summary:
Hourly Research Analyst
  • UEL will census urban street trees planted in the City of Newark as part of the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI) award, itself part of the Rooted in Newark urban forestry initiative.
Trees will be monitored using standard protocols modified as necessary by the UEL for this project.
Key observations include:
Tree Record Identifier, Tree Photo, Location, Site Type, Land Use, Species, Mortality Status, Basal Sprouting, Crown Vigor, Trunk Diameter, Height, and Canopy Diameter. Hourly Research Analyst
  • UEL will collect, record, and enter observation data.
Essential Functions:
Census planted street trees. Enter data collected. Interface with City of Newark residents and stakeholders as the census takes place, referring interested parties to contacts at the City of Newark Office of Sustainability.
Prerequisite Qualifications:
Experience with urban ecology, urban forestry, and tree census techniques. At the university's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be exempted where the candidate can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the university, an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with community outreach and education.
Salary Information:
In compliance with the NJ Pay Transparency Law, the hourly rate/range for this position is $20.00 (USD). NJIT considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses or other items.
