  • $64,000 Employees being promoted to a higher classified position receive the minimum for the position or a pay rate adjustment of 8% whichever is greater.
All regular positions also entitle the employee to several benefits including health, dental, vision, life insurance, and retirement which is largely paid by New Mexico Tech for the employee and dependents.

    JOB SUMMARY:
    The postdoctoral fellow will conduct research on natural and induced seismicity presently occurring in New Mexico. Research topics will include using machine learning techniques for earthquake detection and location, associating seismicity with fracking and wastewater injection data, earthquake magnitude studies and other topics depending on researcher interest. Initial appointment will be for one year, with subsequent renewal, contingent upon satisfactory performance, the needs of the university, and the availability of resources.

    Research on NM seismicity NMTSO seismic network fieldwork Prepare technical reports and publications
    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
    Ph.D. or other doctorate level equivalent in Geophysics, Seismology. Knowledge of Python or other relevant programming language
    DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
    Previous research experience in machine learning methods, seismic tomography, earthquake magnitude studies. Previous research experience in induced seismicity, seismic data processing.
