RESEARCH SCIENTIST I /SEISMOLOGY

RATE orSALARY RANGE
$60,320 - $76,305 Employees being promoted to a higher classified position receive the minimum for the position or a pay rate adjustment of 8% whichever is greater. All regular positions also entitle the employee to several benefits including health, dental, vision, life insurance, and retirement which is largely paid by New Mexico Tech for the employee and dependents.INTERNAL POSTING THROUGH

JOB SUMMARY:
Duties include: Oversee the implementation of new workflows and products for real-time earthquake monitoring operations. Assist with network fieldwork, maintenance of computer processing systems, and permitting activities. Supervise data quality control of NMTSO data products. Develop funding proposals and participate in research related to seismicity in New Mexico, in collaboration with researchers within the state and nationally.JOB FUNCTIONS
Operate, maintain and upgrade the NMTSO data acquisition and processing systems Daily earthquake analysis and quality check of data products Research on NM seismology Field work for seismic station maintenance and telemetry maintenance Write reports and proposals to funding agenciesREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Ph.D. or other doctorate level equivalent in Geophysics /Seismology. Prior experience/knowledge of SeisComP. Knowledge of Python, ObsPy or other relevant programming language.DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Previous research experience in induced seismicity and/or earthquake magnitude or hazard studies. Prior experience with seismic equipment installation and real-time telemetry management.Similar jobs in Socorro, NM
