Guest Faculty Tenure Information:
Non-Tenure Track Job Description Sarah Lawrence College, in partnership with the Center for the Urban River at Beczak (CURB), invites applications for a 2-year fellowship in community environmental science. This unique public engagement fellowship involves teaching one undergraduate course per semester at Sarah Lawrence College, and environmental education, citizen science (including seining, eel migration, and water quality data analysis), and community engagement at CURB, an environmental education center located along the Hudson River in downtown Yonkers, NY ( https://www.centerfortheurbanriver.org/ ). Sarah Lawrence is a small liberal arts college with a dynamic and holistic curriculum, designed to foster students' capacity to develop a program of study unique to them. Beyond class instruction, Sarah Lawrence courses include a significant component of individualized or small-group work with students. We encourage candidates to familiarize themselves with the basics of this distinctive pedagogical model ( https://www.sarahlawrence.edu/undergraduate/ ). The fellow will develop their courses in environmental science, marine science, aquatic biology, or related fields in collaboration with current faculty. These courses will ideally include components that link to research and activities at CURB. At CURB, the fellow will serve as a scientific advisor and instructor for educational trainings and courses for students of all ages. The fellow will also work with CURB staff to conduct Hudson River ecology, water quality, and environmental justice projects that include both fieldwork and data analysis. The ability to communicate effectively with youth and local residents, strong interpersonal skills, patience, and imagination will be essential for this work. This two-year fellowship begins August 1, 2026 and is funded by the Endeavor Foundation. We invite interested candidates to submit a statement of interest, including a description of at least one potential undergraduate course, along with a CV and the names of three references who will be contacted upon submission of application. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time. This is an in-person teaching appointment, with the expectation that the appointed individual will teach on campus for the duration of the contract period. Required Qualifications Completion of a Ph.D. in environmental science, ecology, marine biology, conservation biology, or a related field by the start of the fellowship term is required.Preferred Qualifications Posting Number:
