Job Description

Pay Range:
USD $14,000.00 - USD $29,000.00 /Yr.
Overview:
The Dean of the Graduate School provides strategic, academic, and administrative leadership for all graduate education at Clarkson. The Dean oversees admissions and enrollment, policies, programs, and initiatives that advance the quality and impact of graduate education across the University. The Dean works collaboratively with deans, faculty, staff, and students to enhance graduate student success, foster interdisciplinary and professional development opportunities, and strengthen the University's reputation as a leader in graduate education. Compensation for this role will consist of two months of summer salary, calculated according to the selected candidate's current rate of pay. Deadline to apply is May 29th, 2026
Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership and Administration Develop and implement a vision for graduate education aligned with the University's strengths. Provide leadership for graduate admissions, recruitment, and enrollment management, ensuring data-driven decision-making and alignment with institutional goals. Oversee graduate program review and continuous improvement, and policy development and implementation. Lead efforts to expand graduate offerings, focusing on interdisciplinary, online, and certificate programs. Oversee graduate interdisciplinary programs. Graduate Admissions, Recruitment, and Enrollment Oversee graduate admissions processes, including policy, review standards and processes, decision workflows, and systems management. Partner with the admissions team, marketing, and academic units to develop and execute recruitment campaigns. Analyze admissions and enrollment data to inform strategy, improve yield, and forecast future enrollment trends. Graduate Student Success and Experience Champion initiatives that promote recruitment, retention, and timely completion of graduate degrees. Oversee teaching, research, and professional assistantship allocations and related policies/processes. Develop programs that prepare graduate students for career success. Program Support, Policy and Compliance Work with graduate programs to assess and improve graduate program quality. Support faculty in mentoring graduate students and in developing innovative curricula. Oversee new program proposals. Serve as the institutional authority on graduate academic policies and degree requirements. Partnerships Develop and support partnerships with industry, government, and other academic institutions to enhance research and professional opportunities. Integrate partner feedback on their graduate program needs into offerings.
Qualifications:
Minimal Qualifications:
Terminal degree (PhD or equivalent) and record of scholarly achievement appropriate for a tenured appointment at the rank of full professor. Significant administrative experience at the level of department chair or above. Demonstrated success in fostering both research-focused and professional graduate student education.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience using analytics to drive academic decisions, preferably related to admissions. Experience supporting domestic and international graduate student academic and professional development.
Essential Skills:
Strong understanding of graduate education trends, accreditation, and assessment practices. Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
