Job Description

The Phil Killian Directing Fellowship is designed for early to mid career directors interested in large scale classical theatre and Shakespeare in particular. Fellows will shadow Artistic Director, Tim Bond and participate in artistic meetings (e.g. season planning and casting). They will also assistant direct one Shakespeare and one other production at OSF. Alumni of our program include Sarah Rasmussen (Artistic Director of McCarter Theatre), Davis McCallum (Artistic Director Hudson Valley Shakespeare Company), Mei Ann Teo, (former Associate Artistic Director, OSF), Tom Ridgely (Artistic Director of St. Louis Shakespeare), and directors Shana Cooper, Nelson T. Eusebio, Bill Fennelly, Dawn Monique Williams, Lavina Jadhwani and Shannon R Davis.
Duration:
The 2027 Killian Fellowship is a 5-month residency from the beginning of March to the beginning of August 2027 . Fellows must be available to be in person for the entire duration of the residency.
Stipend :
$14,250 stipend plus housing and travel expenses.
Criteria/Qualifications:
Candidates for this Fellowship must have directed at least three Equity or Equity Guest Contract productions and show an aptitude or interest in directing classical theatre.
Application Timeline:
The application deadline is July 12, 2026 for the 2027 season. Fellows will be selected by the end of August 2026.
