Job Description

Carnegie Mellon University's College of Fine Arts is searching for a Research Assistant to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in an interesting and challenging work environment. The School of Design is seeking a Research Assistant for Summer 2026. We are seeking a Research Associate that will assist in the development and execution of research projects including experiment design, analysis of data collected and writing up experiment results. This position will support Stacie Rohrbach.
Responsibilities:
Identifies problems and obstacles to progress; develops strategies to solve problems. Follows research plans in order to collect, record, and manipulate research data. Maintains accurate and detailed research records and files. May test software prototypes. May interact with research subjects in order to perform job functions. May program software in support of job functions. Attends project meetings. Performs research experiments following experimental protocol and procedures. Researches and documents information by compiling and maintaining accurate and detailed records. Summarizes statistical information for analysis, examination or presentation; writes technical reports. May build and validate quantitative models. Performs library research and field explorations. Uses a variety of software packages to input, manipulate, collect and record results or observations. Participation in weekly meetings. Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree 1-3 Years of Data Collection and Analysis Experience 1-3 Years of Research Experience 1-3 Years of Research Lab Experience 1-3 Years of Research Methodology Experience Strong Analytical Skills Strong Oral and Written Communication Skills Strong Problem-Solving and Reasoning Skills A combination of education and relevant experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered.
