Applications will be reviewed and on-campus interviews with selected candidates will be conducted immediately after the position closing. Responsibilities• The Office of Graduate Programs is seeking currently enrolled UM-Flint graduate students to work as Graduate Student Ambassadors. Students will be hired to serve the following purposes: Reach out to prospective students who have recently requested information on your graduate program. This is typically done via email and/or text; the number of messages and days of the week will vary depending on the volume of prospective students and your availability. It is flexible. Serve as an on-campus/virtual representative for your program. Upon request, you may be asked to arrange on-campus and/or virtual meetings with prospective student(s) of your program, according to your availability. As a part of an on-campus visit, you may be asked to do any of the following: Give a departmental tour and/or tour of campus Introduce the student to other students and/or faculty in your program or department Allow the student to sit in on a class/lab with you Assist at recruitment events as requested such as open houses, webinars, etc. Provide content for our Graduate Programs social media accounts, blogs, etc. Other duties as requested The pay rate for the Graduate Student Ambassador is $15.00 per hour. The number of hours worked per week will average between 2-4 hours. Position is flexible for both a full-time student and/or a full-time working professional. Required Qualifications• Currently enrolled UM-Flint graduate student Have completed at least 6 credit hours in your graduate program at the time of application Overall graduate GPA of 3.0 Must provide the name of a faculty member in your graduate program who would be willing to attest to your performance in your program and recommend you as a Graduate Student Ambassador. Please include the name of this UM-Flint faculty member in your resume. Native language of English, or a score of 84 or better on the
TOEFL, 6.5
on the IELTS, or 110 Duolingo (or equivalent score on another language exam) Pleasant & outgoing personality Willingness to work with prospective students with email or via telephone, virtually, and/or in-person Ability to make phone calls/text from your personal cell phone Modes of Work Onsite The work requires, or the supervisor approves a fully onsite presence. Onsite is defined as a designated U-M owned or leased work location within or outside of the State of Michigan Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment. Learn more about the work modes . Background Screening The University of Michigan conducts background checks on all job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background checks.
