  • 5/31/2026 Key Responsibilities The Utah Board of Pardons and Parole (BOPP) is seeking a Senior Research Analyst (Case Analyst) to provide technical expertise in calculating sentencing guidelines, time accounting, and summaries of offender's cases.
If you are a detailed-oriented, tech savvy, analytical thinker, with strong writing skills, then this position might be made for you! Key responsibilities and day to day responsibilities of this position: Research legal records Perform detailed analysis Calculate complicated sentencing guidelines and credit for time served Interface with automated data systems Provide summaries of court, law enforcement, legal, and expert documents Respond to disputes Familiar with legal terminology Provide findings and recommendations to board members and executive leadership Ensure compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, and/or agency rules, policies, and guidelines Qualifications This position is ideal for someone who prefers a quiet work environment, focusing on detailed work and forensic analysis with a written work product. The Ideal Candidate The model candidate for this position is someone who: Is exceptionally detail oriented Has great internal and external customer service skills Is tech savvy Has experience collecting and summarizing large amounts of information into a concise report. Has experience designing, documenting, and improving work processes Has experience training a team Has excellent communication skills
  • written and verbal Has experience calculating criminal sentencing guideline matrices Works well independently Preference Preference may be given for any of the following: Experience working with the Board of Pardons and Parole Experience working with O-Track, Court XChange, and PACER.
