Apply Now The Department of Psychiatry at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for a Research Associate position in the Academic Support Staff. This appointment will be initially for one (1) year and continuation during that time period and renewal are based on satisfactory performance and availability of funding (limited to three (3) years). Expertise is required in the specific area of translational neuroscience research, in vivo imaging, electrophysiology, computational analysis, or neuromodulation approaches. Applicants must have an M.D and/or Ph.D or equivalent degree. Responsibilities may include conducting translational neuroscience research focused on mechanisms of electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) and neuromodulation using mouse models and human neuroimaging approaches; designing and performing experiments involving in vivo optical imaging, electrophysiology, behavioral phenotyping, and computational analysis; contributing to the development and implementation of clinical translational research protocols related to ECT and other neuromodulation interventions; analyzing and interpreting experimental data; preparing manuscripts and presentations for scientific meetings and peer-reviewed publication; assisting with mentorship and training of students and research staff; and participating in collaborative interdisciplinary research activities within the Department of Psychiatry and affiliated neuroscience programs. The successful applicant will have an opportunity to work closely with faculty across psychiatry, neurology, neuroscience, engineering, and neuroimaging; leverage advanced optical imaging and systems neuroscience approaches in both animal models and human studies; contribute to ongoing clinical and translational investigations in ECT and related interventions; pursue career development and extramural funding opportunities; and participate in the education and mentorship of trainees within Penn Psychiatry's physician-scientist training environment.
