Job Description

Dual Sense is seeking a motivated and curious individual to join our team for hands-on experimental work in a research lab environment. This role is perfect for someone who loves building, tinkering, and diving into cutting-edge technologies like lasers, spectrometers, acoustics, and ultrasound. Conroe, TX :
Research Technician (associate's degree) or Internship (for recent graduates) or Short-Term Contract (with potential to convert to full-time). Position level depending on skill.
What You'll Do:
1. Design, build, and conduct experiments using lasers, spectrometers, ultrasound systems, and laboratory electronics. 2. Assemble and troubleshoot experimental setups with a hands-on approach. Perform laboratory experiments. 3. Collaborate with the team to explore innovative solutions and test new ideas. 4. Learn and apply new tools and technologies as projects evolve, such as assisting in the design, simulation, tradeoff analysis, fabrication, integration, and characterization of prototype sensor systems. 5. Work with customers, collaborators, and team members and provide input in defining the direction of current and future projects.
What We're Looking For :
1. Associate's degree, BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Physics or equivalent. 2. Hands-on experience in a lab setting (e.g., university projects, prior work, or personal tinkering). Familiarity with one or more of the following tools is preferred: mechanical CAD design, PCB layout, and/or Optics layout. 3. A passion for building and experimenting—someone who's quick to jump in and get their hands dirty. 4. Enthusiasm for learning new technologies and adapting to new challenges. 5. Must be a U.S Citizen or U.S Permanent Resident. : 1. Familiarity with lasers, acoustics, spectrometers, or ultrasound systems. 2. Basic experience with mechanical CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD), PCB layout tools (Diptrace), programming (e.g., Python) or experimental data analysis skills is a strong plus. 3. Experience working in a research lab with background in physics, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field. 4. Hands-on design experience in the development of optical sensors typically used in military or civilian applications. : 1. Works well as part of a team. 2. Comfortable tackling complex tasks with minimal supervision. 3. Willingness to put customers and team needs first. : 1. Some travel to test-sites, customer reviews/meetings, and collaborator sites may be necessary. Travel is expected to small % of total time.
