Job Summary The role of Clinical Research Scientist (CRS) will be primarily responsible for conducting meaningful empirical research on behalf of the Memorial Hermann Health System under the direction of the Director of Research. Effort devoted to clinical practice will be determined on an individual basis and under the direct supervision of the respective Clinic Manager/Director. The CRS will also be responsible for promoting collaborative sports medicine research with our physician/healthcare partners and cultivating relationships within and outside of the Memorial Hermann Health System. The skills required for this role include being a healthcare professional with advanced research training and/or experience in sports medicine research. Position is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring the operations of clinical research, effective management of resources, appropriate staff competency, and regulatory compliance. In addition, this position will be directly responsible for the Upper Extremity Research program.
Job Description Desired Skill Sets:
The ideal candidate will be a Physical Therapist or an Athletic Trainer Prefer a PhD Should have research experience Experience working with upper extremities (shoulders, elbows, etc.) Able to work with physicians, executives and leaders at all levels
Minimum Qualifications Education:
Master's degree required in related field from an accredited university in a healthcare-related field (i.e. Medicine, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, or Athletic Training). PhD preferred.
Licenses/Certifications:
Current state licensure in one of the following: Current license to practice Physical Therapy by Texas Board of Physical Therapy Examiners or by the Physical Therapy Compact Commission or Current License to practice Occupational Therapy by the Texas Board of Occupational Therapy Examiners license or Board of Certification (BOC) for an athletic trainer.
Experience / Knowledge

Skills:
Five (5) years' experience in designated rehab discipline (Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, or Certified Athletic Trainer). Effective oral and written communication skills. Principal Accountabilities Conduct clinical sports medicine research using patients across Memorial Hermann, including but not limited to all SM&R programs (Hip, Knee, Spine, Upper Extremity, Total Joints). Perform research activities including, but not limited to; protocol development, grant proposals, data collection, data analysis, manuscript writing and presenting. Clinical duties accountable to the respective Clinic Manager/Director consistent with the duties described for that respective healthcare field. Prepare research studies and manage clinical datasets. Pursue national/international orthopedic publications and presentations in peer-reviewed journals and professional organizations. Work with the research team to manage submission to the Internal Review Board and Memorial Hermann's Study Review panel for study accreditation. Work in collaboration with orthopedic surgeons, PTs, sports & ortho Residents, and the research team under the direction of the Director of Research & Education. Provide guidance and mentorship to the PTs involved with research as well as the research staff across all SMR Programs mentioned above. Pursue funding for de novo research projects/programs. Conducts meetings to relay information to research staff, identify problems, and discuss solutions. Develops/refines/implements policies and procedures that guide and support the provision of research services. Educates patients, family members, staff, and physicians on research protocols. Evaluates the effectiveness of research activities by documenting results and recommending changes for improvement when appropriate. Perform research activities limited to the protocol which may include data entry. Interacts with other departments, directors, employees, physicians, outside agencies and organizations. Presents relevant special topics in professional literature at clinic meetings, grand rounds, conferences, university settings and meetings as delegated or requested by the faculty. Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service. Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as a resource to less experienced staff. Demonstrates commitment to caring for every member of our community by creating compassionate and personalized experiences. Models Memorial Hermann's service standards of providing safe, caring, personalized and efficient experiences to patients and our workforce. Other duties as assigned.
