Flexible Summary We are a new laboratory studying the genetic and immunological causes of human disease, with a focus on immune deficiency and immune This individal will be responsible for performing experiments using Drosophila melanogaster in Dr. Shinya Yamamoto's lab in the Department of Molecular & Human Genetics at Baylor College of Medicine. The lab is physically located in the Jan and Dan Duncan Neurological Research Institute and uses fruit flies to study a variety of human diseases. The individual selected for this position will be primarily be responsible for fly husbandry and genetic crosses. Job Duties Maintains Drosophila melanogaster stocks and performs genetic crosses. Flips vials of stocks in a timely manner. Collect specific male and female flies. Carry out specific genetic crosses and core the results based on genetic markers. Make sure that the stocks are in good shape and the crosses they perform and score are accurate. Minimum Qualifications Associate's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Two years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement. One year of relevant experience. Preferred Qualifications Previous experiences in working with Drosophila melanogaster is prefered but not required.Work Authorization Requirement:
