Job Description

Job Description Under minimal supervision, works in basic science research laboratory, operates lab equipment, performs experimental procedures, collects and summarizes research data. Responsibilities include assisting or conducting a variety of scientific experiments and research projects of limited complexity, collecting, evaluating and interpreting data for clinical and diagnostic research. Responsibilities Assists investigator or higher level technician with research studies to investigate the pathogenesis of lupus, by conducting experiments and assays (such as ELISA and PCR assays), including collection and analysis of data, preparation of solutions and set-up and maintenance of equipment. Assists in the management of a mouse colony used for these experiments, which includes mouse husbandry, genotyping, blood collection and other sample collection. Performs database queries of historical data and organization of data into spreadsheet for use in research studies. Assists in the inventory and organization of all reagents, supplies, and other materials in the research area. Assists with compliance with institutional offices, such as EH&S and IACUC Ensures proper maintenance of equipment. Performs all other duties as assigned. Qualifications Attention to detail by achieving thoroughness and accuracy when accomplishing a task through concern for all the areas involved. Ability to organize and coordinate work within schedule constraints and handle emergent requirements in a timely manner. Ability to monitor important and complex projects concurrently within a research environment or laboratory schedule. Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing, to include writing and preparing memorandums, letters, and other official correspondence. Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and email software.
EDUCATION
Bachelor's degree in a basic science or related field is required.
EXPERIENCE
Two (2) years of related experience is required.
