Job Description
Utah Valley University is seeking a Student research assistant for the Engineering department! Join an interesting research project focused on the development of advanced energy harvesting systems. As a research assistant, you will work on modeling, simulating, and experimentally validating the performance of wind and vibration-based energy harvesters. This role offers hands-on experience in applied mechanics, dynamic systems, and renewable energy technologies, providing a unique opportunity to contribute to impactful research. The student will work with an assigned faculty member, from the Engineering department in the area of Mechanical Engineering, to complete undergraduate research. The position is anticipated to start in August 2024, with the opportunity to work through the Fall 2024 and Spring 2025 semesters. The student can work up to 20 hours per week. Must be a current student at Utah Valley University (UVU). Preference will be given to students enrolled in the Mechanical Engineering Program. A minimum GPA of 3.0 (B or higher) is required. Experience with Python, MATLAB, and/or Simulink is highly desirable. Experience with SolidWorks and 3D printing is preferred. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail are essential. Previous experience in experimental work is a plus, but not required. Must be a current UVU student in the Engineering program.
