Videos Duties Help The Department of Exhibitions (PEX) establishes exhibition and collection installion schedules, tours (where applicable), and budgets, generes contracts for exhibition tour participants and guest curors, manages correspondence and negotiions with lenders of works of art, and ensures th the work of departments across the Nional Gallery on production of exhibitions is coordined within the framework of the Exhibition Planning Process.
Duties for this position include:
Manage multiple permanent collection installions and highly visible and complex domestic and internional loan exhibitions from the conceptual stage and schedules and coordine participing venues and tours for touring shows. Serve as lead coordinor and point-person for cross-departmental project management efforts as outlined in the Exhibition Planning Process. Analyze contents of assigned exhibition proposals and assess likelihood of loans, amount of organizional effort required, budget compibility with the Nional Gallery's program and goals, insurance, and indemnity implicions, and advise on exhibition scheduling options and feasibility Assess lender requirements and fees for loans and negotie or support the Head of Exhibitions in negotiing terms in the best interest of the Nional Gallery. Working with Nional Gallery legal counsel, and under the supervision of the Head of Exhibitions, draft, review and negotie participants agreements with exhibition venues and guest curor, artist, and other consultant agreements for assigned exhibitions and monitor compliance with terms. Prepare applicions for U.S. Government indemnity, secure favorable insurance terms for loans, and monitor compliance with such terms. Coordine merials for Ste Department Immunity from Seizure applicions. Utilize automed systems (e.g., TMS, Wrike, Teams, etc.) to track loan stuses and da, production deadlines and deliverables, and cross-departmental exhibition communicions. May supervise one or more GS 9 to GS 11 staff of equal or lower grade and oversee compliance of guest curors and consultants for assigned exhibitions. Plan, schedule, and assign work. At the request of the Head of Exhibitions, represent PEX in meetings regarding general exhibition or institution-wide administrion. Maintain professional discretion and awareness regarding sensitive or confidential informion reled to exhibition lenders, contracted partners, and internal issues.
