West Lafayette Job Summary The Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences Department on the West Lafayette, Indiana campus is seeking a Research Associate to join our team. This position will provide research coordination, management, and technical support for a NIH-funded longitudinal project on early language development. The position involves occasional duties outside of the laboratory (2-4 x per month), which may include travel to our community laboratory in Indianapolis, and participation in community recruitment and outreach activities. This is a limited-term duration position for a single year with renewal contingent on performance and availability of funds.

Required:
Education and Experience:
Master's Degree in a related field. One year of experience in a research setting involving development, health or language. In lieu of degree, a combination of experience and education will be considered (Bachelor's Degree + 3 years of experience).
Skills Needed:
Proven project coordination experience, including managing timelines, milestones, and deliverables across multiple concurrent studies Strong written and verbal communication skills for interacting with investigators, staff, and participant families Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize across competing demands in a fast-paced environment Proficiency in research data management, including data entry, QA/QC procedures, and maintaining accurate, well-documented datasets Experience developing and following SOPs and research protocols to ensure compliance and reproducibility Ability to support and optimize research workflows and processes Experience working with young children and caregivers in a research or clinical setting, with adherence to ethical and regulatory standards What is
Helpful:
Experience collecting data using eye-tracking and/or ERP methods (e.g., participant setup, calibration, data acquisition) Working knowledge of R, MATLAB, or Python for basic data cleaning and organization Experience programming and running experiments using tools such as Experiment Builder, E-Prime, PCIbex, Lookit, or similar Ability to prepare and manage multimedia stimuli (audio, video, image files) for experimental use Foundational skills in statistical analysis and data visualization Familiarity with research database platforms (e.g., REDCap or similar)
Additional Information:
This is a limited-term duration position for a single year with renewal contingent on performance and availability of funds. Purdue will not sponsor employment authorization for this position A background check will be required for employment in this position
