Job Description

The Raleigh Trolley program is seeking to hire local Teaching Historians who have a passion for history, expertise on a particular locally relevant topic, and are looking for a setting to tell stories of their local community. We are accepting applications from passionate individuals who will work with Historic Sites staff to develop their topic of choice, research the topic, write the program, and deliver public tours while aboard the trolley.
  • Meet with Historic Sites staff to propose topic for tour
  • Have base level knowledge and/or experience of proposed topic
  • Research, write and design the trolley tour with assistance from Historic Sites staff
  • Communicate and lead the tour to the public
  • Weekend availability required, weekday availability preferred
  • Communicate and work well with people of all ages
  • Good communication, leadership and interpersonal skills with both children and adults.
High School Diploma or Equivalent:
A high school diploma or GED is the standard entry-level requirement.
