Location:
Flint, MICHIGAN Apply Now Job Summary The undergraduate student research assistants will support an interdisciplinary research project examining social media news. Students will engage in scholarly research activities such as reviewing current literature, developing and discussing research approaches with an interdisciplinary team, implementing and evaluating these approaches, and contributing to research articles and presentations. The positions provide hands-on experience with research at the intersection of technology, communication, and social analysis. Responsibilities• Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Read and synthesize current research literature related to social media, news ecosystems, and digital information environments Assist in developing research questions, methods, and analytical approaches in collaboration with an interdisciplinary research team Participate in team discussions to refine and iterate on research approaches Implement research approaches, including data collection, processing, analysis, or qualitative review, as appropriate to the student's background Assist with evaluation and interpretation of research findings Contribute to the preparation of research articles, reports, posters, and presentations Maintain clear documentation of research activities and outcomes. Required Qualifications• Undergraduate student majoring in fields related to Computing, Engineering, Communications, Psychology, Journalism, or Political Science. Desired Qualifications• Good communication skills. Prior work experience with the research team is valued. Modes of Work Hybrid The work requirements allow both onsite and offsite work and an employee has an expected recurring onsite presence. On occasion, the employee may be required and must be available to work onsite more frequently if necessitated by unit leadership or their designee and/or the job requirements. Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment.
