Job Description

SUMMARY Seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Plant Biologist to support research initiatives focused on wheat grown in controlled environments (greenhouses and growth chambers). This entry-level position blends hands-on plant care with opportunities for experimental design, data analysis, and impactful research that directly contributes to agriculture solutions.
EDUCATION
  • Bachelor's degree in Plant Biology, Horticulture, Plant Molecular Biology, or a closely related field.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience working with plants in controlled environments (greenhouse/growth chambers).
  • Basic knowledge of plant physiology, biotechnology, and molecular biology.
  • Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity (e.g., using tweezers for hand pollinations).
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to follow detailed protocols and maintain accurate records.
  • Comfortable working independently and within a team-oriented environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and Microsoft Teams.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Perform daily wheat plant care in growth chambers and greenhouses, including watering, fertilizing, and pollination.
  • Carry out phenotyping and document plant growth, morphology, and responses to treatments.
  • Sample plant materials for laboratory assays.
  • Conduct plant treatments (chemical/physical) according to SOPs and safety guidelines.
  • Assist in designing and executing experiments; analyze and interpret data.
  • Record observations and experimental data accurately in Excel and data management systems.
  • Maintain cleanliness of growth environments and ensure all equipment is used and stored properly.
  • Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot issues and propose experimental ideas.
  • Present findings and contribute to discussions in team meetings.
  • Drug screen & criminal background check will be required
