The NDSU Dickinson Research Extension Center is seeking a postdoctoral research scientist to work in the agronomy research program. The primary responsibility of this position includes supporting program PI carrying out multiple research projects on crop management practices including fertilizer management, crop rotation, remote sensing (multispectral or hyperspectral imaging), soil water dynamics and agricultural resilience. The individual will be extensively publishing research results from previous relevant research and future work in peer reviewed journals and present at scientific and industry meetings. Reporting and budget management duties will be done in coordination with the project leader. Some opportunities for student advising will also be available. Project is initially planned for 1 year with the possibility of extension contingent on funding availability. Commensurate with experience Pay is based on several factors, including budget, labor market, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and/or certification and other business considerations.Minimum Qualifications:
Ph.D. in agronomy, crop physiology, precision agriculture, plant biology or closely related field of study. Demonstrated experience in manuscript writing and publication in peer-reviewed journal. Demonstrated experience in field research and plot management. Experience in statistically analyzing large datasets in SAS or R. Good record of oral presentations and written communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively as a member of a multi-cultural research team. Ability to work under adverse environmental conditions during the field growing season (spring, summer, fall).Preferred Qualifications:
Some experience in remote sensing including hyperspectral and multispectral imaging. Ability to possess a drone pilot license. Experience in crop physiology and soil health assessments Some knowledge on semi-arid U.S. great plains cropping system Some supervisory work experience with studentsApplicant Materials Required:
