OVERVIEW
Southern Nevada Environmental, Inc. (SNEI) is a 35 year-old environmental consulting firm specializing in biological surveys, environmental compliance, monitoring, and mitigation services for projects that may impact sensitive, threatened, and endangered species and their habitats. Our primary clients operate within the renewable energy, linear utility, transmission, transportation, and infrastructure sectors throughout the western United States. SNEI is committed to scientific excellence, safety, and providing practical environmental solutions that help our clients successfully develop and operate critical infrastructure projects while maintaining compliance with environmental regulations.
DESCRIPTION
SNEI is seeking motivated Junior Botanists/Biologists to support an invasive weed mapping effort on a large-scale infrastructure project. Successful candidates will work directly alongside a BLM-certified botanist conducting invasive weed surveys, mapping, and data collection throughout remote desert environments. This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in biological consulting while working on projects that support major energy and infrastructure developments throughout the western United States. This is a temporary position with the possibility for permanent employment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Conduct invasive weed surveys and mapping in accordance with project protocols. Assist with identification and documentation of invasive and noxious weed species. Collect accurate field data using ArcGIS Field Maps. Work under the direction of a BLM-certified botanist to support project objectives. Navigate remote project areas safely and efficiently. Assist with data management and quality assurance activities. Follow all company, client, and site-specific safety requirements. Maintain professional communication and a positive attitude while working as part of a field team.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Biology, Botany, Environmental Science, Natural Resources, or a related field; or Relevant field experience conducting invasive weed management, vegetation surveys, biological surveys, or similar environmental field work. Ability to learn and apply plant identification and mapping techniques. Valid driver's license with a good driving record. Ability to safely operate company vehicles. Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail. Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment. Physical Requirements Ability to hike and walk 8-10 miles per day over uneven terrain. Ability to work outdoors in harsh desert conditions , including extreme temperatures, wind, dust, and remote locations. Ability to carry field equipment and supplies throughout the workday. Work Schedule 10-hour days 6 days per week Estimated project duration of 8-12 weeks
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
Company work truck provided during project assignments. Lodging provided for out-of-town work. Daily per diem provided when working out-ot-town. Travel bonus paid when working out-of-town. Overtime is paid in accordance with federal and state laws. This position is temporary and does not included benefits. Opportunity for continued employment as a full-time permanent Field Biologist upon successful completion of the project. Applicants will be paid as W-2 employees and will be paid every two weeks. SNEI offers a full benefits package to permanent , full-time employees after a probationary period. Benefits include Health Insurance, Personal Time Off (PTO), Paid Holidays, and 401(k) with company matching.
