Min Hourly Rate $15.05 (Standard); $14.05 (Non-Urban); $16.30 (Portland Metro) Max Hourly Rate $21.50 (Standard); $19.50 (Non-Urban); $22.00 (Portland Metro) Position Summary This recruitment will be used to fill one (1) part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week during academic terms and a maximum of 40 hours per week during academic breaks) student technical assistant for the Crop and Soil Science at Oregon State University ( OSU ). The OSU Extension Seed Crop Program is seeking a motivated undergraduate student to assist with ongoing research and Extension projects focused on grass and legume seed production systems. This position provides hands-on experience in crop management, field and laboratory research, seed quality testing, and agricultural experimentation. Students with a strong interest in seed production, crop management, and agricultural research will have opportunities to further develop their skills and may be considered for continued involvement in the program beyond the initial appointment. Communication, Critical Thinking, Teamwork Position Duties Laboratory Activities:
Conduct seed testing procedures including germination, seed quality, seed counting, sample preparation, and related laboratory activities. Assist with maintaining laboratory records.
Field Activities:
Assist with field preparation for research and management activities. Collect plant, soil, and seed samples according to project protocols. Assist with implementing field management practices when needed. Support data collection activities in field experiments.
Data Management:
Enter collected data into Excel spreadsheets and databases.
General Responsibilities:
Maintain a clean and organized laboratory, and field work environment. Follow all laboratory, field, and university safety procedures.
