JOB SUMMARY
In support to the forage-livestock systems program, Dr. Liliane Silva seeks highly motivated candidates for a Forages Technician position to work under her program. The Forages Technician will support and assist with forage and soil data collection, processing, preparation and analysis. The individual will also support facility and experimental areas planting, maintenance, and infrastructure development (e.g., temporary fence building for studies), data entry and assist with organization of educational activities developed under the forage-livestock program.

  • Support and assist with soil and forage sample collection, processing, preparation, and analysis.
Activities will include but are not limited to harvest forage samples, taking soil samples, taking additional forage, animal performance and soil related measurements, weighing and grinding samples and sample preparation for analysis, data entry, and collecting additional samples and data as required. 20%

  • Facility and experimental areas maintenance: repairs, cleans and provide maintenance and organization to the field and laboratory facilities and storage of samples. Assist with experimental areas maintenance, fence building, among others. Additional duties may be assigned. 10%

Assist with organization of workshops and educational activities under the forage-livestock program.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education

  • Agronomy, Soil Science, or Plant Sciences, Animal Sciences or related disciplines

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

INFORMATION
Anticipated Hourly Rate:
$12.00 Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.
ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL LEVEL
Normal Operations Required to follow emergency facility closure directives, and not normally expected work on-site during emergency situations.
