Animal Care Attendant - Pinellas Campus-Clearwater Humane Society of Tampa Bay - 3.1 Clearwater, FL Job Details Part-time | Full-time $15 - $18 an hour 1 day ago Qualifications High school diploma or GED Full Job Description For over a 100 years, the Humane Society of Tampa Bay has been dedicated to ending animal homelessness and providing care and comfort for companion animals in need. We're currently seeking a full time Animal Care Attendant for our state of the art shelter. The functions of this role include, but are not limited to, providing the care and basic needs of all animals in the shelter. This includes; cleaning of cages and runs in kennel areas and the proper feeding and care of all shelter animals. Pay rate for position is a starting rate of $15.00 with the opportunity to go up to $18.00 within 9 months Follows Shelter Veterinarian and Vet technicians' specific instructions in giving, feeding specific diets or following special sanitary procedures. Performs recurring assignments independently and refers deviations or unfamiliar situations to the supervisor. Observes animal appearance and activity for general physical condition, obvious signs of illness, disease, and discontent. Handles animals as required and restrain animals. Walks dogs several times a day to provide exercise and time for elimination of bowels and bladder. Provides tender loving care to the shelter animals. Reports signs of illness, disease, injury, or unusual activity to vet technicians/veterinarians. Applies knowledge of normal food and liquid requirements of animals. As required, provides special food and liquids. Cleans, disinfects, and maintains kennels, cages, runs, and stalls as often as is necessary to ensure no cages or kennels are soiled and odors are not apparent. Performs general cleaning in other areas of the shelter to control the spread of disease. Washes and sterilizes water and food bowls. Launders and dries towels and blankets. Working around a diverse array of animals, including dogs, cats, and small pets like guinea pigs, rabbits, and more. This is role requires lifting 50 lbs +, frequent bending and stretching, and being on your feet throughout the day in a fast-paced environment. Performs other related duties as assigned by Kennel Manager High School Graduate or Equivalent (GED) Schedule involves working weekends $15.00 an hour/ full-time position we are not considering part-time employment for this position.
