About the Job Partners for Wildlife is a grant-funded initiative at The Raptor Center. It works to improve the well-being of all species of wildlife undergoing rehabilitation by increasing capacity, competency, and community, in a 7-state focus area of the wildlife rehabilitation sector (MN, WI, ND, MT, WA, AS, ID). These eight annual roles are set in the initiative's strategy and budget to bring wildlife rehabilitators and veterinarians into the P4W Fellowship program each year, during which they participate in both in-person and virtual activities from September - May.
Primary Responsibilities:
In-Person Event Participation (30%) Travel to and participate in three-day P4W Fellowship Kickoff workshop
Travel to and participate in NWRA Symposium, including auxiliary P4W-centric meetings
Travel to and participate in any additional in-person Fellowship components as developed by P4W team Virtual Rounds Engagement (40%) Participate in at least 85% of P4W-hosted biweekly virtual rounds
Bring cases, questions, concerns, and/or advice based on rounds topics
Inform P4W in advance (as possible) if absence from a round is expected P4W Project Participation (20%) Engage with other Fellows and P4W staff to complete requirements of P4W project as part of Fellowship experience
Maintain communication, collaborate on deliverable production, and complete tasks as related to project on requested timelines
Participate in final project discussion as hosted virtually by P4W team Other Duties as Assigned (10%) Complete any required training modules as required by the University of Minnesota
Provide feedback on all Fellowship experiences via surveys and other P4W requested avenues Appointment Duration 40 weeks
Anticipated 10 Hours/Week
Qualifications Required Qualifications High School graduation or the equivalent with specialization in sciences and related coursework or experience related to the job totaling at least four years in combination
Must be a licensed or permitted wildlife rehabilitator, veterinarian, or veterinary technician in one of the seven P4W Focus Area states (wildlife rehabilitators can be practicing under an organizational permit or another primary holder's permit)
Strong interpersonal communication skills, with a willingness to engage in open discussions regularly
Willingness and ability to travel to Minnesota and at least one other state for in-person event components
Working knowledge of Zoom, Google Suite, and email functions Preferred Qualifications Demonstrated interest in career development in working with wildlife and/or conservation
At least 1-2 years of experience working in wildlife rehabilitation (for rehabilitation candidates)
Pay and Benefits Pay Range:
$25.00/hr ($2000, 4 times within a year); depending on education/qualifications/experience.
